Finding a job as a college student can be difficult with school, personal life and everything in between. Managing a job might seem impossible, but not to worry, because at Palo Alto College there are several different job opportunities for students.
If you are a student, there are many job and intern opportunities across campus and beyond. One of the most beneficial and helpful programs for students is the federal work study program. If eligible, students can work part-time, anywhere from 15 to 20 hours a week, and there are several work study opportunities and jobs offered.
The work study program is offered by financial aid and is designed to help students receive a source of income during college while still prioritizing being a student first. This program is unique to every student because the pay rate and eligibility ranges by different factors like hours enrolled, income, financial aid status, and other criteria. Depending on the school and demand of employees, Palo Alto College offers work study positions throughout the campus in different departments, offices, and any other facility that needs assistance. These positions can range from secretaries, library assistants, food facility employees, tech office helpers, and many more.
One of the newer programs at Palo Alto College is the private-sector work study program. This program helps financial- aid eligible students work at businesses in the area that are related to their major, and is an effort to provide real-world experience in your area of study while working towards your degree. In order to obtain a job through this program, it is a requirement for a job in your field of study to be open. This program is dedicated to helping students get real-world experience in the workplace, explore and decide if the major you are studying is the right fit for you, and financially help while still attending school.
Palo Alto College is constantly working to provide and help students with their professional work lives, and the employment world is constantly changing and evolving in many different ways.
