Margaux Hendrick Escalera

By Michael A. Garza
Pulse Staff Editor

The March 2017 issue of The Pulse is the seventy-fifth issue published since the Fall of 1998. We asked former reporters and editors to let us know where they are now, their favorite Palo Alto memories, and what advice they would give to current students.

Margaux Escalera has become successful in more ways than one since her days as a Pulse reporter back in 2000. She graduated from UTSA, and she is married and the mother of three children, all at different stages in their lives. Even though Escalera’s career is a 180 from what she went to school for and she is not working in a large PR firm or on the news as she once imagined, her Pulse experience benefited her. Skills with Apple computers, writing, publishing and teamwork has helped her in her journey to have a successful career as an internal wholesaler for Capital Group/American Funds.

“The culture, small classes and professor involvement” are what Escalera appreciated most about Palo Alto College. If she had it to over again, “I would have taken more rounded classes of interest rather than what was required.”

Try everything! Get involved in school. It is okay to switch your major several times.
