Samantha Arnold

By Oziel Treviño
Pulse staff editor

The March 2017 issue of The Pulse is the seventy-fifth issue published since the Fall of 1998. We asked former reporters and editors to let us know where they are now, their favorite Palo Alto memories, and what advice they would give to current students.

Samantha Arnold attended Palo Alto College from 1997 to 1999, and she was a reporter for the first issue of The Pulse. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois.

“My degree program allowed me to explore my interests in the field of communication studies. In my heart, I knew I loved working with students. Coaching in the fencing program with my mentor, Vincent Bradford, gave me my first opportunity to develop my teaching skills. After I earned my bachelor’s degree, I spent a year teaching in the public schools of Japan before beginning my master’s program at Illinois, where I was able to continue developing my teaching skills. Teaching speech communication at South San allows me to blend my love of communication studies with my passion for teaching,” wrote Arnold.
